bluestone and tree roots

My pond is about 40'x100' with an average depth of 4' (maybe). I am having trouble with the floating green slimey stuff. I also have trees with their roots in the edge of the pond...question is. Will the bluestone kill my trees?

Doug says that bluestone will kill small feeder roots that it comes in contact with. One of the uses for this material is to clean out sewer pipes of the feeder roots for trees. So - the roots that are invading your pond will not be happy but if the trees are healthy, they won't die (unless all their roots are in the pond)

But with a natural pond of this size, you'd have to add a lot of bluestone to get a good algae kill. Sounds like you need to get a natural bottom established with good bottom plant cover to help fight this.
