I have a piece of just the water lilly flower.

I have it in water and it has been 3 days living in the water, but it has not opened. Will it regrow it self, considering it was detatched from the plant itself?

Doug says if the bud was far enough along, it will open. If it is a very tight bud, then it will not. I'd leave it in the water until it either starts to bloom or starts to go brown. Do change the water every day or two and use warmish water - not cold.
