Water Gardens Information
Why
another water garden site?
Been there - dug that hole. This is a practical water garden site written by a full time garden writer who isn't trying to sell you pond equipment.
These are the results of my experiments and growing adventures and like all parts of my writing - I share those things with readers.
If You Have Questions?
Well, you could subscribe to my free gardening newsletter where I answer reader's questions. Or you could ask it right here on this website.Want to see some pond pictures?
I've put together some slide shows on pond design and water liliesWhat About Pond Supplies
I evaluate and tell you what you need to know right here about pond supplies There is a ton of info linked into that page to answer just about any question you might have.
Does That Include Pumps?
You'll find all the information you need to know about pumps right here. It can be a bit technical so I've suggested questions you should ask your local dealer. What about Plants and Water lilies?
Now you're talking my language! I love water garden plants.
That includes the famous easily grown lotus plants
It also includes hardy water lilies
And the stunningly gorgeous tropical pond lilies
There's also a growing section (small joke) of pond side perennials for you to grow.
You want to build a pond
Series of articles on building a pond
Building waterfalls
Building koi ponds
You've got green water now
Oh, Oh. Here's the main linking page to controlling algae and identifying what you've got (some of it is good - some is bad). There are articles there on controlling green water using only plants as well as some other innovative ways to keep that water clear.
You've heard about bogs
And well you should have - bogs are one of the most interesting parts of the pond (after the waterfall of course) in that this is where you grow your pondside plants and if you build it right, you can grow some pretty amazing plants.
What about solving problems?
Here's an entire section on solving animal control issues and then another one on more general problems such as fixing leaks.
Many of the pages have pictures uploaded in order to give you some design ideas and entice you to create your own bit of paradise in your backyard (or front yard) (or side yard) or ... :-)
