lily stand

I would like to raise two of my lilies about 18 inches from the bottom of my pond. Do you know of a plant stand for this purpose? The plants are in 16 inch pots. I have come across such a stand, but it sells for $40 or more. Do you know of a less expensive way to do this? Thanks.

Doug says to use cement blocks or small paving stones to prop up your pots to the level you need.

plant stands - a cheaper option

We set standard size round pvc tables in a 5 foot deep pond to put the pots on. 3 pots with lillies and planting media in them are heavy enough to keep from floating to the surface and are quickly hidden by the lilly growth.

I use plastic milk crates as stands in my pond.

If you're concerned about puncturing the liner - put a layer of heavy liner or pond underlay down between the liner and the block.

And yes, there's some lime involved but the amounts aren't huge or a problem in large ponds with circulation

what about the liner

would the liner not get damaged, if you were to put breeze blocks directly nto it.

Be careful of cement blocks as they have lime in them, is'nt that true Doug?
