First Lotus

First Lotus

Actually it is my front yard.....but we have built a water feature with two ponds,two water falls and a stream. About 3,000 gallons. It has been a challange and I've learned a great deal this summer. Mostly about "string algea" YUK! The yellow lotus has been my baby and I was delighted with my one and only bloom. Looking forward to next spring and any info you can pass on to us novice ponders.

Don't you love the fragrance of the lotus? I also have been fighting string algae all summer.

Nice looking plant - you might want to try feeding the plant - you'll get larger leaves that way. :-) Treat it the same as a water lily when it comes to feeding the pot.
