need help with the dirt part

how do you start the lotus they all are about 6 in tall and going to start the dirt and 2 or 3 died i put rocks in bottom then dirt then water what am i doing wrong

Doug says he doesn't quite understand. If you have lotus roots, then you want to make sure they're being treated right and the growing points are not damaged at all. Damage these growing points and your lotus will not thrive.

As for rocks etc - forget all that stuff. Go with a good clay soil (no peat, no artificial soil) and plant them properly.

Keep the baby plants warm - without that heat and warmth, they'll just waste away.

So without knowing exactly what you're doing - I can't help much more.
