Pond side plants (dry and sunny areas)

Barebones waterfall

Barebones waterfall

We have constructed a large pond and waterfall (using liners - so no damp areas) and have just finished phase II, two terraced areas next to the falls. Lots and lots of big boulders. I am looking for plants that like silty, good drained soil that will accentuate the boulders but drape over them as well, or climb up them. The rocks need to be covered to make them look like they have always been there. The picture only shows phase I but the main problem is is to right of the waterfall. Any advice appreciated.

Doug says that if this area is dry then the sky is the limit here. It looks like you've got some shade there at the moment so it's not full hot sun. This means you can grow a wide variety of plants in this area.

The main thing to understand is that if the soil is dry or average (not swampy or constantly damp) then your plant choices are huge.

Rather than listing hundreds here - let me suggest you check out the pages at my perennial website because there are lists of plants there as well as how-to grow articles on hundreds of perenials.

You're lucky! You get to pick from almost any perennial you want.
