RED SLIMEY FLOATING ALGAE

WHAT IS IT+HOW IS THIS CAUSED AND WHAT CAN BE DONE TO BAN IT FROM THE POND?

Doug says that algae comes in all kinds of colours - from red to brown and even our familiar green. (The red algaes are used in making gum agar.)

Control is the same as for all other algae - no difference here.

No idea where it came from and how you got so "lucky" but normal algae control systems will take care of it for you.

In the meantime, simply scoop it out of the pond with a net and then get your pond balanced, likely add some bacteria to get things working a little quicker and make sure the ecology is balanced with plants etc. as per the articles here.
