The pads are taking up the whole pond but Im not sure what to do!
by Katie
Ive recently moved to a new house with a pond and Im very un-pond savvy. Its a small pond but it is covered with lily pads (and some other things - but I dont know what they are? Some of the pads are flat on the surface and some are pushing up into the air. Theres even one flower threatening to come through. I think there may be signs of a fish or two - I think I remember seeing something when I viewed the house and I dont think theyve taken they with although I cant see anything now. Im concerned about getting enough air / light for the fish if they are in there but Im not sure what to do with these pads. Any ideas would be great thank you.
Doug says relax. Fish don't require light and the plants are giving them enough oxygen. Sounds as if your pond is doing exactly what it should be doing.
Start reading everything you can though about pond maintenance because you're going to need it to keep that pond growing well this fall and next spring.
Have a great adventure with it.
