Will My Water Lilies Grow?
But they are very expensive, how do they grow, if I bought one would it multipy?? or could you please tell me what I am suppose to do.
We live in Havelock Ontario Canada. We live on pensions, and the ponds and the fish were already here, not as many as there is now!!! So could you please help me.

OK - let's take it from the top. Will water lilies grow? They better. :-) Follow the directions on the growing water lilies page to get good growth.
Along with good growth comes an expansion of the root and this means that you can indeed divide this root (every two years if you feed it well) to get more water lilies. It is easily done with a shovel.
And do note the guidelines for how many fish you have in the pond. A pond will support 1 inch of fish per square foot of pond surface. e.g. 4X8 foot pond is 32 square feet, therefore you get 32 inches of fish.
I note that everybody underestimates the number of fish in the pond because if you think you have 50 - you have a massive crop of babies in there this spring for sure.

You might want to start with something less expensive like the annual water hyacinth.
This is a very fast grower that will help to shade out the water surface. You don't say how many square feet your pond is but figure that each one of these plants will quickly cover 3-4 square feet in a northern pond (where the water tends to be cooler than more southerly ponds)
