water plants compatible with Koi fish

In planning ahead for spring season, which water plants can I put in my koi pond? vinyl bottom & sides. approx 3000 gal. at the time I have 3 koi (one is 10", two are 8") and about 15 comet fish. deepest part is 3'. Any suggestions? thanks.

Doug says that he knows no plant that is compatible with koi. Period. (And by the way, if you're starting with this number of fish now, by spring you're going to have a LOT more) :-)

The deal with koi and plants is that koi will either eat them or play with them - and the "only" way you're going to grow plants in a fish pond is to protect them using net bags or rocks on the pots or some other protective device.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this one but if a koi can get near it - or dig it - it's going to.

I'd welcome suggestions from other water gardeners on this one if you have plants a koi won't bother or eat (assuming it can reach them) - make your comments below
