When can hardy lilies be planted

i was thinking of buying some hardy water lilies and planting them and submerging in our pond. can this be done anytime of the year, or should i wait till spring when the water warms up? also can hardy lilies be placed where a sprinkler would hit them. thanks

Doug says that here in zone 4/5 we only transplant them in early spring. After that, the transplant survival rate goes down quickly. I've never tried to transplant them in January but because you live in a warmer climate, you might get away with it (assuming it is spring, the plants are dormant and local gardeners say you can do it, or the plants are guaranteed to grow)

I don't like putting lilies under sprinklers but depending on how often you use it... once a week or so is not going to be a major problem (just remember that water is going to be colder than rain - and tropical lilies might not be too happy with it)
